The time for joy is now
Today, I am grateful for the love that exists in the world. While grabbing coffee this morning I asked the young man working the register what his ring said and he stated, “I will love you forever.” He went on to share that he and his girlfriend had exchanged promise rings. This moment and his willingness to share brought joy to my heart. The world is full of beauty, we just have to be present to witness it.
I am learning how to protect my empathetic heart without closing her down. Shutting down doesn’t keep my energy safe, it turns me into a miser, afraid to share myself with the world.
I accomplished being vulnerable with my team and engaging in only one video meeting on day one of our "video free week."
I delighted in listening to music, in receiving a free onion from a colorful cashier at the local grocery store, in meeting the woman who is going to make my memory quilt, and in sharing information on emotional wellbeing with my team. Mental health is something we should talk about, and I am honored to work somewhere that not only provides a number of resources to help us stay healthy in all dimensions, but also creates a space for us to talk about it.
